REFERENCE GRAMMAR FOR THE TEACHING OF SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LEVELS

This course is aimed at teachers who teach or want to teach language lessons at the intermediate and advanced levels. However, it is not aimed at students at these levels. The course focuses on the explanation of some grammatical issues which have an effect on the language usage and, as such, should be taught in the classroom.

The course Teaching Grammar to B-Level Students follows the CEFR descriptors for language proficiency at levels B1 and B2. The course aim is to work on the grammar issues which have impact on the language usage, without paying attention to the functional aspects of only theoretical interest.

Thus, this course is aimed at teachers who teach or want to teach language lessons at the intermediate and advanced levels. However, it is not aimed at students at these levels. The course focuses on the explanation of some grammatical issues which have an effect on the language usage and, as such, should be taught in the classroom.

The course is divided into six modules. The content modules (modules 1-4) are also divided into three parts.

  • To think: reflection activities and forums to become familiar with the relevant grammatical subject and discuss its most important aspects.
  • To explain: explanatory videos about the theoretical contents.
  • To check: self-assessment questionnaire with questions about the contents explained and analyzed in the module.

MÓDULO 1: RECONSIDERANDO LA GRAMÁTICA: DE LA TEORÍA AL USO.
MÓDULO 2: REGRESO AL PASADO: PERFECTO, INDEFINIDO, IMPERFECTO... Y OTRAS IMPERFECCIONES.
MÓDULO 3: LAS CARAS DEL (MODO) SUBJUNTIVO.
MÓDULO 4: SER Y ESTAR: EL PROBLEMA ES LA Y
MÓDULO 5: PRÁCTICA. PARA EL AULA.

To get the certificate of assistance, the students will have to fill in a final questionnaire, develop activities to practice grammar in the classroom, assess other students’ tasks and take part in the forums. These criteria will be explained in Module 0.
