The Diploma in Hispanic Studies is a Spanish program conceived for students already fluent in Spanish. The fall semester is focused on Spanish Literature, History, Art, Geography and Grammar.

The Diploma in Spanish Studies is a year long program, but students are free to enroll only for one of the two semesters.

In the fall semester, students are free to register for the five subjects offered, or just for four. Spanish language is always compulsory.

Students’ placement into language classes will be determined by an on-site placement test administered by Cursos Internacionales. This Course requires an advanced level of Spanish (level B2).

SPANISH LANGUAGE (A)
LENGUA ESPAÑOLA (A)
El objetivo de esta clase es ampliar y mejorar el dominio lingüistico del español en los aspecto gramaticales y léxicos desde un enfoque comunicativo y funcional. Para ello se realiza una diversidad de tareas que sitúan al alumno en contextos comunicativos reales.
SPANISH LITERATURE
LITERATURA ESPAÑOLA
This course offers a general overview of the Spanish literature from the Medium Age till the present time. The different literary periods are introduced, following a chronological order and basing the classes on the study of real texts. This way, students get to track them in the political, historical and social contexts where they appeared.
SPANISH HISTORY (A)
HISTORIA DE ESPAÑA (A)
The main purpose of this course is to present the most relevant events, dates and figures of the Spanish History from the Prehistory to the Golden Century.
SPANISH ART (A)
ARTE ESPAÑOL (A)
This course brings students closer to the main periods and trends of the Spanish Art. During the classes, students analyze the works of the most important artists from Baroque to the present day.
DESCRIPTIVE GEOGRAPHY OF SPAIN
GEOGRAFÍA DESCRIPTIVA DE ESPAÑA
El contenido de esta materia comienza con una breve presentación de España en el marco internacional, referido especialmente al ámbito de la Unión Europea. Los aspectos del medio físico y natural así como de los factores bioclimáticos y los recursos naturales constituyen el estudio de la población y de las variables que la determinan, junto a sus formas de ocupación del territorio o hábitat. Se continúa con el estudio de las actividades económicas, su dinámica y su capacidad de transformación del territorio y se culmina con la organización político administrativa en regiones, provincias y ayuntamientos.

Conditions

Should the student register just for one of the two semesters of Diploma in Hispanic Studies, he will receive a certificate describing the subjects studied. Students must not miss more than 15% of classes.
