Accommodation policy

Cursos Internacionales can help students with their housing arrangements. Students can choose to live in a homestay with a Spanish family or in a dorm at the University of Salamanca. The student who requests housing, with a family or in a residence hall, will have to pay the accommodation management fee indicated in our webpage.

Homestays

As a mere intermediary, Cursos Internacionales helps the students who so wish with their accommodation management. Cursos Internacionales carefully selects families from Salamanca who host students in a single our double room and provide full board homestay in accordance with the following terms:

  • The accommodation fee will be previously paid to Cursos Internacionales, who will be responsible for paying the families.homestays
  • Both the day of arrival and the day of departure will be paid as half days.
  • Prices include homestay, bath or shower, 3 meals a day and bagged lunches for the excursions organized by Cursos Internacionales.
  • Laundry and ironing are not included in the price. To receive these services, it is necessary to pay the family the amount indicated in our webpage.

Prices: 

The student who requests housing, in family or in residence hall, will have to pay as accommodation management fee the following amount:
Year 2015: 35€.
Prices (per person per day) for the academic year 2015:

  • Double room: 21.25€.
  • Single room: 23.25€.
  • LAUNDRY AND IRONING ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. To contract these services, it is necessary to pay the family a supplement of 14 euros per week. This payment gives students the right to two full loads of white and colour clothes respectively.

Cursos Internacionales can also help students who prefer to live in a dorm to find housing in a dorm of, or associated with, the University of Salamanca, depending on the number of available places at each moment.dorm housing
Students choosing to live in a dorm have a double or single room with private bathroom and Internet service.
Students have also the option of full board accommodation or only accommodation.
The accommodation period begins at 16:00 the day before the course starts, and ends at midday (12:00) the day after the course finishes. If you need to start the accommodation period before or finishes it after, please make sure to indicate it in the Other comments box of the online registration.
 
Students must bring their own towels and personal care products.
Current prices are published in our webpage, and they are established depending on the length of the stay in weeks.

Dining services in dorm housing:

For food services, students need a card with a magnetic strip, which is compulsory to access the dining hall. Students will receive this card when they arrive at the dorm housing. Students are only allowed to use the dining hall they have been allocated to.

In fact, the card they receive will be valid only for that specific dining hall.

If the card get lost or damaged, students can ask for a new one directly in their dining hall, where they will have to pay 5 euros for the new card.

Cancellation policies for dining services in a dorm with full board:

  • If the cancellation is carried out at least seven days before the food service starts, students will be reimbursed the whole amount for the service. As students will be in the same dorm but only for accommodation, they will be reimbursed the difference between accommodation and accommodation with full board.
  • Students who have hired the services for less than a month are not allowed to cancel the food service once it has started.
  • If the food service has been hired for longer than a month, students can cancel it for the second and following months. In these cases, cancellations must be informed at least a week before the first month ends. Students will have to pay for the first month (either they use the service or not), but will be reimbursed the amount for the following months.

    Students who do not want to have accommodation with full board but want to have just some of the meals included (breakfast and/or lunch and/or dinner) must inform Cursos Internacionales of this in order to get the relevant budget for this option.

Accommodation reservation

Students can apply for their accommodation just at the same time as they are registering for their course, or can apply for it later, at least FIFTEEN days before the course starts. Accommodation application must always be made through the online registration application available from our webpage. If you have already enrolled for one of our courses and now want to apply for accommodation, please enter your password and user name to access your profile.
In the event that the course the student has registered for is longer than a month, and the accommodation is not booked and paid for a month, the student can apply for the prolongation of the stay at least SEVEN days before the start of the following calendar months of stay.  In case of prolongation, the student will have to pay, also within the SEVEN days before the new month of stay, the amount corresponding to a month of the accommodation applied for.
Cursos Internacionales can only guarantee the accommodation reservation for the total period applied for and paid before the beginning of the course. If, when registering, the student only paid for the first month of accommodation, the month prolongation of it will be conditioned by the number of places available at the time of requesting the prolongation.

Payment

Students must pay International Courses 200 euros of management and reservation fees. This amount must be paid when the students are applying for accommodation or, at least, FIFTEEN days before their stay starts. International Courses will not reserve the accommodation until the payment is made.  The payment of the 200 euros ensures the reservation of the accommodation unless there are no places left in the kind of accommodation chosen by the student. In such a case, the student can change the kind of accommodation or can be reimbursed the 200 euros paid of management and reservation fees. If the accommodation is confirmed, the 200 euros will be deducted from the total amount of accommodation and management fees. 

Before the beginning of the stay, both in a family and in a dorm, the student must pay the total amount of the accommodation and the management fees if the stay is for a month or shorter than a month.  The students who stay longer than a month must pay, at least, the first month of accommodation and the management fees.  If the payment is not made, the reservation will be cancelled and the student will be denied the access to the accommodation applied for and will not be reimbursed the 200 euros paid for reservation.

Accommodation changes

Changes of dorm housing are not allowed during the first month of stay or during the other months. Students who are not satisfied with their dorm housing are only allowed to change it at the beginning of each month.

Students living in a host family can change the family, although it will be subordinated to the availability of families that Cursos Internacionales has when the student requests the change.

If the stay is longer than a month, the student can request both a change of dorm housing and a change of type of accommodation (from dorm housing to homestay and vice versa). These changes are only allowed at the beginning of each month. In these cases, the student has to apply for the change at least seven days before the new month. These changes will result in new management fees. The student has to pay the management fees and the amount corresponding to the first month at the same time as applying for the change. The change to the desired dorm housing will depend on the available places it has.

Cancellation policy

If the cancellation is carried out at least FIFTEEN days before the course starts,International Courses will reimburse the whole accommodation fee, except for housing management charges.

For cancellations made less than FIFTEEN days before the course start date, Cursos Internacionales will reimburse the amount paid except for 200 euros of housing management and reservation charges.

Once the accommodation period has started, cancellations are not allowed during the first month. Students who left it will not be reimbursed. 
After the first month of accommodation, students who want to cancel must inform it at least a week in advance and pay 50 euros of cancellation fees, which will be deducted from the amount reimbursed.
